JIM MAYFIELD is a freelance photographer who operated his own commercial studio in Springfield, Mo., and worked for the Springfield News-Leader for over ten years. He spent two years working on an extensive photo essay on Dogwood Canyon; a wildlife nature preserve. Images from that project adorn the walls of facilities at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, Mo.

Published works include many covers for The Ozarks Mountaineer magazine, A&M Records, and Warner Brothers Publications. Numerous awards include Newspaper Editorial Illustration in Pictures of the Year competition.

He has exhibited at galleries in several states including New York, California, New Mexico, Texas, and Missouri, and has been traveling the nation doing art shows for the past six years. He is currently represented by Quicksilver Gallery in Eureka Springs, Ar., and River Market Artspace in Little Rock, Ar. He has made photographic expeditions to Alaska, Russia and Ireland, but thoroughly enjoys working in his native Ozarks.
